Citysports Walking Pad Review For Under The Desk

After watching hundreds of TikToks about people putting a walking pad under their desk, when working from home, I finally decided to give this a try as well. This seemed like the perfect method to get my daily steps in while having to spend my entire day in front of a screen at the same time.

I happened to already have a desk that I can manually move up and down, so the decision to finally purchase a walking pad for myself came easy.

I also ordered it around the beginning of the year, so New Year’s resolutions also did play a small part in that. The walking pad I purchased was from Citysports, so here is my review of the Citysports walking pad!

Why purchase a walking pad?

Especially during the winter months, it is quite difficult to achieve your step goal every day. It is way too cold and gets dark quite early, so going for walks just isn’t as enjoyable. If you are working from home sometimes, you can place the walking pad under your desk, so you can get your steps done while working. Other than that, it can also help with your productivity, and help you concentrate better on one task.

Or even once you finish work, you can still go for a walk within your own walls while putting on a film.

What do you need to get a walking pad?

If you want to place it under your desk, you will need a standing desk or a desk that you can manually move up and down. Also, of course, an electric plug nearby, as well as enough storage space for your walking pad.

The walking pad can be rolled around easily, and you can either lean it towards the wall or roll it under your bed, for example. It, therefore, should not take up much space when stored. However, also make sure you have enough space available around your walking pad when using it. And to have some space behind to avoid any accidents in case you roll off.

Review of the Citysports walking pad

I have seen this walking pad online quite a lot, and it was a bit cheaper than most of the other ones I had looked at, so that’s why I went with this one.

Everything is already set up, so you don’t need to put together anything. And it comes with a small remote to adjust the speed and stop the walking pad, the plug in and some lubricant to oil the treadmill. Also, a tool to loosen and tighten the walking area. Setting it up literally took about half a minute. But it did recommend to oil the walking pad already before use, so that took about 15 minutes to figure out.

I guess I can’t really compare this with any other walking pads, but it does exactly what it should do. It works! It is louder than I had thought but also not super loud. I still wouldn’t use it at night, though, for example. Furthermore, it was also a little bigger than I thought, so there is definitely enough walking space. In case that is something you were worried about.

I have been using the Citysports walking pad for about one and a half months now and so far I have had no issues with it. It works the way it should work, I’ll probably give another update here in a few months, but so far I’m happy with it, and I’m happy I purchased it.

Price: Around $296

Do I recommend purchasing a walking pad?

Yes, totally. Even though I don’t use it as often as I thought I would, I really like using it when I work from home. Since, I only work from home about twice a week, I of course don’t use it every day. However, on the days I do work from home, I like to use it for about 3 hours a day, maybe.

While it is a bit of a hassle to adjust the height of my desk manually every time, I do feel much more productive when I work while using my walking pad. Since, my feet are busy walking I feel like I get much less distracted by order things in my room, which helps. I usually walk on about 2.5 km/h while working.

I also like using it in the evening, when I get home and are not missing too many steps anymore to reach my step goal. Then I would just walk on it for a bit while watching Netflix.

Overall, I really like that I can get my steps in without having to leave the house. Not that I don’t enjoy going for walks, but in these cold, windy winter months it isn’t always my favourite thing to do.

Have you thought of getting a walking pad yourself?

Fyi: this post is not sponsored, and I don’t have any financial benefit from recommending this product or from you buying this walking pad. But, I know when I was during research about which walking pad to buy I was reading a lot of reviews, so I thought this might be interesting for some of you out there as well.
